By providing real-time bolt load data, RT-Bolt prevents costly leaks, failures, and outages. Combined with reduced reliance on specialist inspections, the system often delivers rapid ROI, especially in high-risk, high-cost-of-failure applications.
Rt-Bolts minimal cost versus the potential consequential losses and high maintenance spends make it a strong cost benefit.
RT-Bolt provides ongoing monitoring of bolt tension, allowing operators to detect relaxation, creep, or load loss due to thermal cycling. This proactive insight enables corrective action before leaks or failures occur.
RT-Bolt systems have been deployed and monitored in multiple high-temperature, high-stress industrial applications for over five years, including delayed cokers and refinery piping systems. These field results demonstrate the long-term stability and reliability of the technology.
RT-Bolt installation can be completed during standard maintenance cycles, allowing operators to retrofit load monitoring capability to critical joints without requiring major equipment redesign or replacement. Hot Bolting procedures can also be calculated depending on the application.
RT-Bolt’s design prioritizes ease of use. Operators with minimal guidance can capture and interpret load readings using handheld devices or integrated monitoring systems. This eliminates the dependency on third-party specialists for verification, saving time and lowering operational costs.
RT-Bolt has been successfully deployed on delayed coker drums operating at 800°F, where joints are exposed to severe thermal cycling. Over more than five years of continuous use, the system has shown no degradation in accuracy or performance. This proven track record demonstrates RT-Bolt’s ability to withstand high-temperature, high-stress environments while maintaining reliable bolt load monitoring.
Torque measurement indicates only the applied turning force and is heavily influenced by friction, lubrication, and surface conditions. This makes it an unreliable proxy for bolt tension. RT-Bolt overcomes this limitation by directly measuring the true load within the bolt, delivering precise, real-time data. This allows operators to verify joint integrity with confidence, minimize the risk of under- or over-tightening, and improve long-term reliability.
RT-Bolt was developed for critical industries where conditions are anything but controlled. Its patented, rugged construction withstands vibration, dust, impact, and mechanical shock, making it well-suited for mining, heavy equipment, and other demanding environments. Combined with its proven track record in high-temperature refinery service, RT-Bolt provides a versatile solution for both thermal and mechanical extremes without compromising reliability or accuracy.
Simple - Accurate - Robust
Zero to beyond bolt yield.
No.
Any assembly method can be used with RT-Bolt load indicating studs.
RT-bolt are accurate to +/- 3%
A very small area of the stud is drilled out in the centre during the RT-Bolt conversion. The yield point of the stud (working range) is unaffected due to the majority of the tension the stud experiences is propagated to the outer portion of the studs.
The smallest size stud is 1/2” diameter.
Yes, when coupled with data monitoring system.
Yes. Customers can free-issue bolts from inventory to RT-Bolt for conversion. Where needed, RT-Bolt can also source and supply bolt materials from our trusted and qualified suppliers directly to ensure full compatibility and compliance.
RT-Bolts patented machining operation is scalable up to high volume orders with max production currently up to 200 conversions per day. Every project differs in quantity, materials, and complexity. Expediting options are available also. If turnarounds are imminent let us know, we understand the pain points.
